High School Football Player

I'm sure most of you have heard about the coach that's being tried for "reckless homicide" when a student died as a result of football practice in hot weather.

What do you think? The student died three days after being admitted to the hospital. My own opinion is the coach should NOT be held responsible. However, I do feel sorry for the player and his family. Football is a rough sport and I don't think football practice should be called off because the "heat index" is in the 90s. If a player feels it's too hot, then he should be allowed not to practice that day. That's my two cents.....

I am so god-damn tired of everyone suing everyone else for shit like this... shit happens in life, get over it and quit trying to make a buck off of it. And this is just my opinion, but the simple fact that he died 3 days after being in the hospital makes me think that there was something else "at play" in this circumstance than just the coach working his team members.

This is the first "criminal case" against a coach for wreckless homicide. There have been a few other cases but they were all civil cases. Once the criminal case is over, then the coach will most likely face a civil case against him and the school. Football is a tough sport and parents should understand there are dangers involved with football. I knew a guy in high school that lost a kidney while playing football. I'm not sure of the details but obviously he didn't play football any more.

I think.... damn...ok, not really. I will try again.

I feel that (better) when participating in any sport, when one gets too hot, one should know when to alert the coach and take a break.

My Bubba, who is 8, has asthma. And he plays baseball. The coach knows that when Bubba says he needs a break, he needs a break. He knows when he cant go on. He knows when he is having trouble.

Its common sense.

The coach should have been hydrating the kids more, but the kids should have known when to break.

I don't think the coach should be tried, criminally.

I do think it's the coaches responsibility to see to the health of players..especially young.

We had coolers filled with ice positioned all over the place. Everyone was chewing ice constantly.

We never practiced in full equipment on hot days. Early morning is the time to do this.

We usually stripped down and ran until we puked....then eat more ice :D
